Self-Esteem of Adolescents

Abstract:
Adolescence stage can be specifically turbulent as well as a dynamic period of ones life. It has been identified as a period in which young people develop abstract thinking abilities, become more aware of their sensuality, develop clearer sense of psychological identity an increase their independence which is due to rapid changes of physical structures, normal functioning of nervous system and glandular system and his widening social experiences. The adolescents have got extreme emotions and their emotional moods vary from relation to depression. One time the adolescent is up in the clouds and nest time he is in depth of despair. In this stage, the adolescents are much concerned about their self esteem and respect. They want to be appreciated by other. They are ready to anything for the sake of maintaining their self esteem. The adolescents are usually involved in the personal evaluation which make them to understand their self esteem i.e. the sense of their own worth or capability. The self esteem of the adolescents has direct bearing on their personality development an achievement level. Negative self-esteem among the adolescents created undesirable traits in them which are not good for his balanced growth and development.
